Position Summary

This position will report to the Operations Compliance Manager or designate. The Operations Compliance Specialist provides support and assistance to projects. Responsibilities are varied but include Customer interaction, Audit of all operations employees, subcontractors, Document Control and Briefing new Rules/Procedures, Coordinating the timely delivery of services and updating the management team. 

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

• Builds and maintains relationships with Clients. 

  Provide coaching and educating to operations employees relating to railway rules and best practices, including but not limited to CROR and TWSI interpretation and application. 

  Complete operational Audits on operations staff and sub-contractors 

  Acting as Qualified Flagger when required.  

  Set up, reposition and dismantle railway specific signals (flags) at designated locations 

  Communicate effectively with the work group being protected, other flagmen and Rail Traffic Controllers using established procedures and radio equipment to ensure the 
  understanding of instructions, track protection limits, work site hazards and other specific 
  site conditions. 

  Generating daily time sheets. 

  Tracking and documenting project schedule activity, start, finish, % complete and major milestones. 

  Tracking and collection of documentation for extra work, submittals and backup for billing purposes. 

  Acts as a leader in Safety and Quality by adhering to and promoting plans, policies and procedures. 

  Performs other related administrative or project-based duties as assigned. 

  Assists in investigations into incidents or violations as required. 

  Liaise with Document Control team to aid in distribution of required bulletins and other operational documents. 

  Take part in weekly safety calls to discuss items relevant to safe operations. 

  Other duties as required 

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized post-secondary engineering or technical program in a related field is preferred. 

  Minimum 5 years railway operating environment experience. 

  Exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving and organizational skills. 

  Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work to deadlines. 

  Ability to build relationships and work effectively with a team. 

  Self-motivated, innovative, committed and honest. 

  Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills. 

  Attention to detail and ability to see the bigger picture. 

  Clean driving record and ability to travel as required. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Overnight travel to job sites is required. 

  Exposure to outdoor construction sites in all weather conditions. 

  Work is in and around live track (trains). 

  Work may be in urban, rural or isolated areas.
