Position Summary

Reporting to the Foreman or Supervisor or designate, the Directional Drill operator performs a variety of tasks related to the operation of directional drill and construction equipment.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

· Conduct pre-trip/walk around safety inspections and complete necessary safety paperwork and documentation.

· Ability to operate all equipment functions independently and safely

· Adhering to specific policies and regulations

· Adhering to site specific rules and regulations

· Ability to work with minimal supervision

· Maintain excellent communication between members of the team and clients

· Working as a member of the team by assisting other members when required.

· Load and unload the directional drill equipment in a manner that is secure and damage free

· Transport associated tools, materials, and/or equipment

· Prepare the drill fluid based on site conditions prior to bore shot commencing

· In conjunction with locator, operate the direction drilling using the selected bore heads and back reamers to place ducts.

· Troubleshoot any equipment issues and relay to service technician for assistance and/or resolution

· Able to operate drill or locator as required.

· All other duties assigned to meet Company objectives.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· AZ License, with clean Driving Abstract, required.

· 3+ Years of Directional Drilling Experience, preferred.

· Previous knowledge of Underground Utilities and Locates

· Ability to read and comprehend construction drawings

· Ability to work in a fast-paced high change environment while managing multiple interruptions and adjustments of priorities throughout the day.

· Experience with Ditch Witch JD10 Horizonal Bore Machines, preferred

· Good Communication skills with ability to work in a team environment

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

· Standing and walking around the project site

· Ability to life 50lbs (23kg)

· Frequent bending, lifting, digging, shoveling and moving of objects on site.

· Loud noise

· Field environment and subject to all weather conditions.

· Working in and around live commuter trains, high voltage, confined space, safety sensitive cabling

· Day, evening, night and weekend shift work
