Compensation

$120,000- $140,000

Position Summary

The Project Manager supervises and coordinates day-to-day rail construction project activities. Reporting to the Project Director or designated manager, this role ensures that project tasks are executed in accordance with designs, budgets, and schedules, while maintaining company quality and safety standards. 

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review project proposals and plans to understand timeline, budget, resource, and staffing requirements. 
  • Assist in developing project execution plans outlining materials, equipment, and subcontracting needs. 
  • Supervise day-to-day onsite activities and provide direction to onsite staff and field employees. 
  • Track daily workflow and progress to ensure project milestones are completed on schedule. 
  • Identify project bottlenecks or field issues and assist in implementing corrective adjustments. 
  • Provide technical assistance and make baseline construction method recommendations to field teams 
  • Administer project financial tracking systems to accurately monitor live expenditures and cost estimates. 
  • Assist with managing the financial aspects of contracts, tracking material use and change orders. 
  • Monitor subcontractor progress and verify work performance against agreed contractual terms. 
  • Review and verify preliminary project estimates based on proposal specifications.  
  • Coordinate with department managers to establish localized work plans and staffing for each phase. 
  • Attend and participate in routine customer and stakeholder project meetings. 
  • Gather operational updates to prepare clear written status reports for management and clients. 
  • Conduct alignment meetings with field staff to communicate localized project goals and safety needs. 
  • Monitor site-specific safety programs to maintain a secure and compliant work environment. 
  • Inspect workflows to verify that employees and subcontractors meet designated quality and productivity standards 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Degree: Undergraduate degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical field.  
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of recent project management or project engineering experience in a rail or heavy civil construction environment.  
  • Sector Context: Practical knowledge of rail transit environments, live track operations, and standard infrastructure construction practices 
  • Competency in project controls, including tracking baseline costs, operational schedules, and material routing. 
  • Familiarity with general contract and subcontract documentation structures. 
  • Proficient software skills utilizing Microsoft Office suite alongside common construction management applications 
  • Reliable verbal, written, and collaborative communication skills. 
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and data-tracking abilities. 
  • Proven capability to make sound, localized field decisions and work independently within a broader project structure 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Frequently works outdoors at construction sites and occasionally works indoors. 
  • Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, and crouches while negotiating work areas under construction. 
  • Sits, reads, writes, and uses a keyboard. 
  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather. 
  • May be exposed to loud noise.
