Salary: $120000 - $145000 / year

 

Senior Systems Engineer
Performs and/or supports various aspects of train control systems design and testing, including evaluation of signal and systems engineering designs based on project needs. Will coordinate preparation of design details and plans to ensure the completeness of the activities meet applicable requirements.  Verifies and tests systems in accordance with requirements. 
 
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
•    Evaluates signaling and train control system designs in accordance with client needs, industry standards and regulations, and Company policies and practices
•    Prepares and reviews specifications for signaling and train control systems, and evaluates information to ensure conformity to industry practices
•    Inspects and tests signal systems, equipment, structures and materials for safety and for conformity to industry standards
•    Assists with installation and repair of signal equipment 
•    Interacts with multi-discipline teams on proposals and projects
•    Follows and promotes Company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures
 
General/Other Responsibilities and Duties
•    Assists with preparation of operating plans and schedules
•    Writes reports and prepares engineering documentation
 
Required Skills and Qualifications 
•    Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline 
•    A minimum of 10 years’ experience in signal system design, installation/construction, testing, and repair
•    Knowledge of a wide range of signaling concepts, principles, and practices
•    Knowledge of new signal construction standards and requirements 
•    Ability to review, analyze, and resolve difficult and complex signal problems
•    Ability to effectively and accurately interpret, reference, evaluate, organize, and record technical information.
•    Ability to apply safety rules, practice safe work habits, identify safety risks, and avoid potentially risky behaviors and situations
•    Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
 
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
•    Works indoors in an office environment
•    Occasionally works outdoors at construction sites
•    Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, and crouches while negotiating work areas under construction
•    Sits, reads, writes and uses a keyboard 
•    May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather
•    May be exposed to loud noise
•    Role requires air and vehicular travel at various times
