Position Summary

PNR RailWorks is looking for a dependable and hardworking Yard Labourer to assist with general yard duties, property maintenance, and material handling. This role is essential to keeping our operations running efficiently and supports field crews by handling non-union tasks at the yard level. If you're someone who enjoys working outdoors, staying active, and being part of a solid team, this could be the perfect fit. 

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Yard & Property Maintenance: 

    Cut and remove vegetation along the entire fence line to prevent damage and keep the site clean. 

    Perform general landscaping and cleanup around the yard. 

    Sort large volumes of relay plates, including material from the REM project and ongoing deliveries. 

    Clean and organize sea cans and storage areas to keep materials accessible and safely stored. 

    Help sort relay and obsolete materials for reuse or disposal. 

    Identify and separate materials for scrapping. 

    Assist in preparing scrap loads to take advantage of current high scrap metal prices. 

    Load and unload materials and supplies as needed. 

    Use hand tools and basic equipment to move, clean, or organize yard inventory. 

    Support inventory control and labeling efforts. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in a yard, construction, or labour-intensive environment is an asset 

    Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions 

    Strong work ethic and attention to detail 

    Basic understanding of safety practices and use of PPE 

    Forklift or skid steer experience is a plus, but not required 

    Able to work independently and follow instructions 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Works outdoors at construction sites. 

 Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds. 

 Exposed to all weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather. 

 Exposed to loud noise, live track/trains and high voltage. 

 Ability to workdays, Afternoons and Nights 

 Travel Required
