Compensation
Salary: $90,000 - $105,000
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (weekends if available)
Position Summary
A Cost/Change Engineer is responsible for preparing, managing and overseeing the process of change orders and related costs, ensuring proper documentation, routing, and approval of changes.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
- Cost/Change Preparation: Work with project managers and engineers to develop accurate cost estimates for various projects and change orders, including materials, labor, and other expenses.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather information necessary for change orders and other cost-related items.
- Change Order Management: Overseeing the change order process, from initiation to proposal to collection of payment.
- Document Control and Other Reporting: Maintaining a system for managing change orders, including tracking their status, history, and related documentation.
- Process Improvement: Developing and/or revising processes, procedures, and work instructions to improve efficiency, accuracy and reduction of costs.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Attention to Detail: A strong attention to detail is crucial for accurate cost/change estimation and control.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to organize and manage large amounts of data and information.
- Resourcefulness: Ability to find and utilize resources effectively to achieve project goals.
- Financial Acumen: A strong understanding of financial principles and concepts.
- Self-Starter: Takes initiative, can work without supervision and begin projects independently.
- Bachelor’s degree Business/finance/Accounting/Economics.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Works in an office environment.
• Frequently sits for long periods of time.
• Will occasionally require use of hands to evaluate tactile properties of procured materials.
• Frequently speaks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard.
• May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending.
• Available to deal with after-hours emergencies and call outs
