Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000 per year, Plus Expenses.

 

Position Summary:

Manages and coordinates all aspects of the catenary portion of construction projects, including executing plans, organizing construction activities, ensuring that each project's goals and objectives are completed and on schedule, meeting quality standards, and supervising department staff in successfully achieving goals and objectives.

 

Primary essential responsibility and duties:

  • Review design unit packages and plans to determine the time frame and procedures for accomplishing project staffing requirements and allocating available resources to various project phases.
  • Ensure that project activities comply with the transit agency's requirements.
  • Coordinates work shown in design drawing packages with actual field conditions. Advises constructability issues and communicates with all parties involved.
  • Monitoring subcontractor's field installation work and document requirements for completion and quality
  • Attends and/or leads meetings with project staff and management to communicate information related to project requirements.
  • Supervisors project activities to ensure that design budgets and schedules execute the project and take appropriate action to minimize the impact of deviations
  • Assist with the resolution of any problems that may arise during project execution,
  • Supervises and coordinates on-site activities and provides the day-to-day direction of on-site ADM supporting staff

 

  • Ensures that quality and productivity standards are being met
  • Provides technical assistance and makes recommendations to project team leaders and subcontractors.
  • Assist with preparing written reports and/or internal and external updates for management clients and the project team to ensure a clear understanding of the project's status.
  • Ability to supervise CAD staff to create construction drawings from design drawings and field observations.
  • Understand technical catenary calculations
  • Will be available on the day or night shifts to support field installations and or survey crews.
  • Review and manage material submittals. Make technical comments for compliance and design changes to designers or installers.

 

Suggested skills and qualifications

  • BS degree in civil or electrical engineering plus 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
  • Experience in catenary work on MTA, Amtrak, and LIRR properties.
  • Knowledgeable with catenary materials on MTA, Amtrak, and Long Island Railroad projects.
  • knowledgeable about the Amtrak Northeast Corridor in New York City.
  • Worked or retired from Amtrak in the catenary department.
  • Familiar with working on design-build projects.
  • Understands the Amtrak catenary system of the entire project to keep trains running during and after construction.
  • Ability to identify additional work orders.
  • Amtrak track training course certificate.
  • CSX Track Training Course certificate.
  • OSHA 30 certificate.

 

Physical requirements and working conditions

  • Able to work outdoors to perform field surveys or field support as required.
  • Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, Stoops, and crouches while negotiating work areas under construction.
  • Sits, reads, writes, and uses a keyboard.
  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions, including very hot and cold weather.
  • May be exposed to loud noises.
