Pay Range: $60,000 - $70,000 / year
Position Summary
This position is responsible for coordinating all workplace safety programs, regulatory compliance, and incident prevention efforts, while also supporting day-to-day production and operational activities. This role serves as a bridge between safety, operations and leadership teams to maintain a safe work environment, streamline processes, and optimize performance.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
Safety
• Monthly training and documentation on OSHA required safety topics and additional topics as required. Serve as the primary contact for safety issues and reporting.
• Lead incident and injury investigations and assist with developing action plans.
• Recommend control measures for the design and use of tools and facility equipment to minimize risk
• Conduct periodic audits and assessments of facilities, equipment, and operating practices.
• Monitor Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) in Cedar Hill facility.
• Ensures that all required safety records and reports are complete, accurate, and correctly submitted and maintained.
Operations
• Assist with daily operations and coordinate production schedules in alignment with business goals
• Assist with communications between management, supervisors and frontline employees to ensure smooth operations.
• Learn and serve as back up for Transportation/Logistics Manager
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Quality teams to resolve issues impacting operations performance.
• Work with Maintenance Manager to order and maintain critical parts
• Work with Operations team to learn ERP system to create purchase orders and create and close work orders
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations, safety regulations and best practices.
• 1+ years of related safety experience. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and environmental regulation knowledge and experience in manufacturing.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all levels of the company and effectively deal with vendors, customers, and regulatory agencies.
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment where numerous tasks and projects are occurring simultaneously.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to write effective reports.
• Attention to detail, ability to communicate at all levels of the organization and able to work with others through complex situations.
• Excellent decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic knowledge of environmental regulations (SWPPP) and Safety programs
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
Education
High School degree, some college or college degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of related safety experience with application of OSHA regulations, application of ISO 45001 or OHSAS 18001 management systems, and environmental regulation knowledge and experience in manufacturing.
• Licenses/Certifications: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Generally works in a manufacturing plant environment, including production floor and office.
• Frequently sits, stands, walks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard.
• May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
• May be exposed to loud noise.
• May include occasional travel to field construction and maintenance sites.
• Can see up close, distances, colors and has use of peripheral vision and depth perception.
• Can tolerate variable and sometimes challenging conditions during visits or inspections of company equipment in a railroad environment.
