Position Summary  

The Production Operator Lead provides direction and guidance to Production Operators to achieve production goals and produce a quality product in a safe efficient manner; They are responsible for implementing a timeline established by the Foreman, their team will use to reach the end daily production goals by delegating tasks to Production Operators to include themselves; use different types of machine equipment to assist with manufacturing of the NARSTCO product and cooperates as a team with other workers to produce a high quality product to meet customer needs and goals. 

  

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Carryout to the full extent required, production activities for the processing of all NARSTCO products 

  • Plan, coordinate and communicate production instructions to meet daily performance requirements and goals 

  • Manage the flow of day-to-day operations on the line 

  • Communicate clear instructions to team members and provide needed assistance 

  • Listen to team member’s feedback 

  • Monitor continuous operation of production sets, packages and custom specifications per customer’s needs and goals 

  • Assist with shift-to-shift coordination 

  • Review production schedule for efficient operation 

  • Provide initial training to team members and as necessary 

  • Ensure accurate production data collection 

  • Develop paperwork for production team and update the company Foreman on the team’s progress 

  • Mark and inspect product as required 

  • Monitor, evaluate and make final determination if product meets all quality requirements 

  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations 

  • Promote work safety standards and enforce procedures to maintain safe working conditions 

  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards 

  • Work safely at a reasonable pace (measured by production efficiency) and within our quality standards to insure timely completion 

  • Assist new employees in safe and efficient production which includes following standard operating procedures and instructional material and manuals 

  • Commit to and participate in activities for continuous improvement 

  • To exercise the utmost degree of integrity, honesty, good faith and fidelity to the Company, in dealing with the Company and with its customers, employees, suppliers and other public entities 

  • Provide other reasonable services as the Company may request from time to time 

  • The Assistant Lead in Training performs all functions of the Lead in their absence based on training from the Production Operator Lead and Foreman. 

 

Required Skills and Qualifications  

  • High School diploma or GED 

  • Three years’ experience in Industrial Manufacturing 

  • Mechanical aptitude 

  • Ability to transfer knowledge to Production Operators by on-the-job observation and training 

  • Demonstrated leadership experience 

  • One to two years Forklift operation and certification a bonus 

  • Basic reading, mathematics skills, computer skills 

  • Knowledge and experience in various industrial machines such as presses, hoists and forklifts, 

  • Experience using calipers, reading a tape measure, operation of PLC equipment, grinders, and machine fabrication tools 

  • Basic maintenance knowledge such as tightening and loosening bolts etc. is preferred 

  • Ability to follow instructions, drawings and dimensions as required for quality 

  • Ability to work well with tools and machinery required 

  • Flexibility in handling multiple priorities and heavy production requirements 

  • Experience in industrial, production manufacturing and fabrication preferred 

 

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • The job operates in primarily the production area of the NARSTCO facility  

  • Exposure to potentially dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, loud noises, machines, fumes, heat/cold, sparks, metal dust and industrial moving parts in the plant facility 

  • Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and safety regulations must be adhered to at all times 

  • Required to sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl 

  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and must requires assistance if lifting/or moving over 50 lbs. 

  • Local out of state travel on small occasions
