The Shipping/Receiving Operator is responsible for carrying out shipping and receiving instructions as delegated by the Lead or Foreman.


Essential Functions

  • Carryout, to the full extent required, production activities for the processing of any and all of NARSTCO products;
  • Count, label and package parts for A&C jobs
  • Complete and submit packaging paperwork
  • Perform class 4 & 5 forklift inspections
  • Operate class 4 & 5 forklifts
  • Layout traffic cones and instruct drivers – exclusion area and general protocol
  • Identify and load product and parts on trucks as directed
  • Complete and submit domestic and international truck shipping paperwork
  • Install and remove derail locks as required
  • Stage product and parts for railcar loading as directed by Lead, Foreman or Manager
  • Perform rigging duties inside railcar
  • Unload and stage materials and parts from flatbed and vans
  • Identify and label inventory materials as required
  • Complete and submit receiving paperwork
  • Receive package shipments from vendor carriers
  • Repackage and label materials into NARSTCO packaging as required
  • Control traffic for NARSTCO driver
  • Check and report fuel tank levels
  • Monitor wood dumpster levels
  • Maintenance of department equipment as necessary
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations
  • Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
  • Training of new employees which shall include participation in the development of standard operating procedures and instructional material manuals

Supervisory Responsibility



Work Environment

The job operates in the yard and production area of the NARSTCO facility and work may require exposure to potentially dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, potential physical harm, loud noises, fumes, occasional sparks, metal dust and industrial moving parts in the plant facility.


Proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and Safety Regulations must be adhered to at all times.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.


The employee is required to stand, walk, sit, listen, talk, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, twist, reach, push/pull, climb, and  work involves lifting up to 50 pounds regularly. Assistance is required for anything over 50 pounds.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Hours of work are primarily Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional weekend work depending on company internal and external product deliverable demands.






Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One to two years’ experience in Industrial Manufacturing and or Logistics
  • One to two years Forklift operation and certification a bonus
  • Knowledge and experience in working with forklift inspections, loading and unloading material, preparing shipping and receiving paperwork and equipment maintenance
  • Ability to follow instructions as required for production and quality based on customer deliverable requirements
  • Ability to work well with other departments to meet customer needs and goals
  • Experience in industrial, production manufacturing and fabrication preferred
