Position Summary
                                           
The position will build the signal maintenance and inspection business under the Track Services group for the mid-west, mid-Atlantic and northeast regions. Responsible for coordinating, planning and documenting all of the signal inspections for existing and new projects.  This position will also assist project teams on transit projects during the project buy out, startup, and during the course of construction as the project teams need assistance. 

 

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

 

•    Pursues, bids and supports rail signaling and transit projects. 
•    Assists estimating teams during project pursuits such as evaluating signal/systems subs scopes. 
•    Works with sales team to bring in new clients and work. 
•    Manages proposals for alternate bid pursuits, design build, CM/GC, etc. 
•    Oversees advanced, quality railroad signal maintenance work in accordance with accepted professional practices, including the general code of operating rules, to ensure optimum performance of railroad signal systems and public and personal safety. 
•    Comply with company policy and Federal and State rules and regulations governing work activities including those issued by Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). 
•    Work together to promote teamwork with Signal Maintainers, construction crews and coworkers by communicating mutual concerns and providing guidance.

Required Skills and Qualifications 


•    A minimum of 5 years of signal/transit project experience. 
•    Thorough knowledge of signal maintenance and construction industry practices, methods, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities.  
•    Demonstrates a working knowledge of basic project accounting, project controls (cost, schedule, change management, etc.), material management, contract management, subcontract management, safety, and quality.
•    Exhibits strong management skills and has the ability to lead and motivate employees.
•    Track record of successfully executing projects on schedule and within budget. 
•    Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
•    Strong client relations, influencing skills and organizational skills.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

 

•    Frequently works outdoors at construction sites and occasionally works indoors. 
•    Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, stoops, and crouches while negotiating work areas under construction. 
•    Sits, reads, writes and uses a keyboard. 
•    May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
•    May be exposed to loud noise.
