Position Summary

 

The Junior Scheduler supports project management teams in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of project schedules for rail and civil construction projects. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and field supervisors, this role helps ensure that project timelines, resources, and milestones are effectively planned and tracked to meet contractual and operational objectives.

 

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

 

  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining project schedules using scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent).
  • Input project data, activity durations, relationships, and milestones into the schedule.
  • Support senior management in analyzing critical paths, float, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor daily/weekly project progress and update schedules accordingly.
  • Generate schedule reports, charts, and dashboards for internal and client review.
  • Help identify scheduling risks, delays, and opportunities for recovery.
  • Coordinate with project teams to gather progress updates and verify schedule accuracy.
  • Maintain schedule documentation and version control.
  • Assist in preparing look-ahead schedules and progress tracking tools.
  • Support in implementing schedule best practices and company standards.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience in scheduling, project controls, or related role.
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles.
  • Familiarity with scheduling software (Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar) is an asset.
  • Strong MS Excel and reporting skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

 

  • Primarily office-based role, with occasional site visits required.  .
  • Travel required across Ontario and potentially other regions.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times.
