This position is Temporary with potential to become permanent. 

Pay Range: $50000 - $60000 / year 

 

Position Summary
The Payroll Associate gathers, and inputs employee information needed for maintaining HRIS data and processing weekly/bi-weekly payroll, doing so within prescribed timelines and with accuracy, quality, and efficiency, and performing various payroll-related tasks.
 
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
•    Maintains employee records for assigned employee groups
•    Performs various tasks related to administering the automated time collection back office
•    Enters payroll and employment information in a timely and accurate manner
•    Ensures the integrity of payroll data 
•    Inputs new hires, changes, and terminations
•    Confirms required documentation/approvals have been received 
•    Involved in the onboarding and new hire/rehire documentation process 
•    Balances and reconciles payroll records; analyzes reports to identify errors and resolves and adjusts discrepancies 
•    Researches and resolves routine payroll questions and issues from managers and staff
•    Complies with payroll company standards and practices 
•    Maintains a consistent information flow between payroll, HR, and other operational departments as needed
•    Generates regular and ad hoc payroll reports, prepares and files Record of Employment and other required documents or remittances
•    Responsible for administration of the Austin Lane back office
•     Maintains employee records and assists in administering HR programs and processes
•     Acts as a subject matter expert for Canadian payroll 
•    Assists with other accounting/administrative tasks and backup to other regions payroll, as required
•    WCB filing
•    Maintains payroll files and records and performs payroll-related clerical tasks
•    Prepares and submits monthly pension payment for AB hourly employees


Required Skills and Qualifications  
•    Completion of a post-secondary program in a related field; PCP or CPM designation preferred.
•    A minimum of 3 to 5 years payroll experience, preferably from the construction industry
•    Organized, detail oriented and able to meet deadlines
•    Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information and to perform with a high level of professionalism and integrity 
•    Strong understanding of payroll principles and standards with an emphasis on Alberta, BC and Ontario requirements
•    Ability to carefully follow procedures and policies
•    Effective written and oral communication skills
•    Strong customer service skills
•    Familiarity with payroll systems/software such as JD Edwards
•    Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with strong Excel skills

•    Works in an office environment
•    Frequently sits for long periods of time
•    Frequently speaks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard
•    May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending
