$130000 - $175000 / year

Position Summary

The Senior Estimator Prepares cost estimates for projects in the planning, design, and construction phases. Produces bid proposals and prepares buy-outs.  

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Lead estimating team and supervise preparation of project cost estimates. 

  • Review and approve bid packages and pricing. 

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to clarify scope and technical requirements. 

  • Maintain cost databases and historical project data. 

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions. 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, or related field. 

  • 7–10 years of estimating experience in rail or heavy construction. 

  • Strong knowledge of construction costs, materials, and labor. 

  • Leadership, communication, and analytical skills. 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Works indoors, with some onsite/outdoor work  

  • Frequently sits, stands, walks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard  

  • May be exposed to harsh weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
