Position Summary

 

Reporting to the Controller, we are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialst to join our team located in Delson. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. We are seeking a motivated individual with strong attention to detail, a team-oriented mindset, and a passion for accounting. the Accounts Payable Specialist performs accounting and administrative/clerical tasks related to the efficient processing and maintenance of accounts payable transactions; and provides general administrative support and backup to the regional office including reception and clerical functions. 

 

Primary/Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Processes accounts payable including coding and posting accounts payable invoices; forwarding invoices for approval; maintaining AP files by vendors, reconciling statements and payable amounts, reconciling weekly cash requirement report, processing and maintaining documentation and records control for purchase orders, bills of lading and packing slips.
  • Handles routine requests for information 
  • Performs data entry in JDE (JD Edwards) or other systems; creates, updates and maintains files, spreadsheets, databases.
  • Perform Pcard reconciliations.
  • Generate expense reports and monitor expenditures in accordance with company policies.
  • Generate accounts payable reports and participate in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Assists A/R, Payroll, & Admin team members as required to ensure deadlines are completed in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

  • High School Graduation supplemented by completion of a post-secondary program in accounting.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of recent related office,accounting and payroll experience.
  • Experience in the construction industry or project-based environment is preferred.
  • Proficiency in the use of software applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; JD Edwards or other construction accounting package is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, organize work, prioritize and work to deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills in both English and French
  • Superior problem-solving skills and ability to use judgment and common sense.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and to perform with a high level of professionalism and integrity.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

 

  • Works in an office environment;
  • Frequently sits for prolonged periods of time;
  • Frequently speaks, reads, writes and uses a computer keyboard;  
  • May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending
