 Pay range: $22 to $26 per hour.

Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating powered industrial trucks to load, unload, move, and stack materials within the warehouse or production area. This role involves sorting materials, organizing inventory, and stacking goods securely on pallets to ensure efficient and safe warehouse operations.

 

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load, unload, move, and stack materials, products, or equipment according to company standards.
  • Sort and organize materials by type, size, or production order for efficient storage and retrieval.
  • Stack materials securely on pallets and ensure proper wrapping, labeling, and identification of goods.
  • Transport pallets and materials to designated storage or staging areas.
  • Inspect forklifts daily before use; report maintenance or safety issues immediately.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Assist with inventory counts, material tracking, and documentation as required.
  • Follow all company safety rules, operational procedures, and quality standards.
  • Keeps the yard clean, neat, safe, and operating efficiently
  • Manually sorts and stockpiles materials and prepares materials for shipping.
  • Loads and unloads materials, machinery, and tools, and maintains material stockpiles.
  • Follows company and industry safety rules, practices, and procedures

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Valid forklift operator certification (required or must be obtained upon hire).
  • Proven experience operating forklifts or other warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform manual labor as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read and understand instructions and work specifications
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulars
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job
  • Able to work independently with some direction
  • Capable of following written and verbal instructions and documented procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Manage time effectively and adapt quickly to changing priorities
  • Effective listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Able to multitask.
  • Problem-solving and analytical ability.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

  • Warehouse or production facility environment.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and moving equipment.
  • Exposed to harsh weather conditions, including very hot and very cold weather
  • Performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling of materials, equipment, and tools
  • Use hands and fingers to grasp, manipulate, and/or assemble objects and tools
  • Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools up to 100 pounds
  • Exposed to loud noise and active material/equipment yard
  • Must wear appropriate safety equipment, such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, safety vests and hearing protection, as required by the company.
