Pay Range: $26 to $28 /hr
Position Summary
Responsible for the safe operation of industrial trucks in the transport and delivery of construction materials to railroad construction jobsites. Performs a variety of tasks involving physical labor at construction sites, utilizing hand and power tools and other equipment.
- Drive 20% and work 80% is in the field as a laborer/operator.
- Drive crew to and from job site.
- Drive a 750 crew truck with air brakes.
- Hauling heavy equipment and rail construction material.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

- Assists with lifting/moving, loading/unloading transported materials as needed
- Documents vehicle deficiencies and provides notice to maintenance department.
- Operates equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, and telephones, to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers
Required Skills and Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience operating commercial motor vehicles in a railroad construction or related environment.
- A minimum of 1 year of construction-related experience.
- A valid Commercial Driver’s License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Driving Record
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to safety requirements and procedures
- Must be able to travel locally, some overnight.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Uses hands to handle and control materials, tools and vehicle controls.
- Uses repetitive motions • Uses close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
- Frequently performs physical activities that require considerable use of the arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as standing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, reaching and handling of materials, equipment and tools
- Uses hands and fingers to operate equipment and tools involved in repairs
- Lifts, pushes, pulls, and carries heavy objects, machinery, and tools up to 50 pounds
- May be exposed to live track/trains and high voltage.
- Must wear appropriate safety equipment, such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection, as required by the company.
- May be exposed to harsh weather conditions
- May be exposed to loud noise.
