Pay Range: $90 - $100 / hour
Position Summary
Provides expert electrical consulting services in collaboration with LKC and Siemens for testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of the new signal system and communication-based train control (CBTC) system on the 8th Ave CBTC project. Responsible for on-site presence during the “In Phasing” process of systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with NYCTA specifications and standards.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
• Collaborates with LKC and Siemens teams to support testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities for the new signal and CBTC systems
• Provides on-site technical expertise during the In Phasing process of system integration and equipment deployment
• Applies in-depth knowledge of electrical engineering principles, including AC/DC high and low voltage systems, to diagnose and resolve issues
• Demonstrates strong understanding of fiber optic and communications wiring and system operation
• Ensures all work adheres to NYCTA specifications, standards, and operational requirements
• Maintains compliance with Track Safety and OSHA 30 safety standards during all site activities
• Supports documentation and reporting related to system testing and commissioning progress
• Coordinates with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation and operational readiness of the CBTC system
Required Skills and Qualifications
• Minimum 20 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, particularly within transit or related industries
• Extensive knowledge of NYCTA specifications and standards for signal and communication systems
• Proficient in electrical systems involving both high and low voltage AC/DC circuits
• Strong experience with fiber optics and communications wiring and operational principles
• Track Safety and OSHA 30 safety training certifications required
• Proven ability to work effectively on-site during complex system integrations and troubleshooting
• Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting and system commissioning
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
• Required to be on-site, often in active rail or construction environments
• Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical activities required for system inspection and troubleshooting
• Ability to work in outdoor and indoor environments with variable weather and noise conditions
• Adherence to all safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory
