Hybrid/Remote Position

Pay Range: $160000 - $175000 / year

 

Position Summary
The Business Development Manager / Major Pursuit Lead will be responsible for all U.S. transit & rail related business development and major pursuit activities for the RailWorks Corporation - Major Projects group. This position will be responsible to leverage industry connections and client relationships to identify and track business opportunities within their assigned region and lead related major pursuits. The role will be responsible to drive growth in target market segments while working closely with clients, senior leadership, and key internal / external stakeholders.
 
Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties 
•    Research business opportunities and support maintaining the Company’s pipeline
•    Keeping management informed of upcoming business opportunities
•    Be the first point of contact with local partners
•    Be the first point of contact with local clients or agencies
•    Cultivate local client / agency & partner relationships
•    Maintain a firm understanding of local client / agency and stakeholder nuances, needs and hot buttons
•    Works to influence RFQ, RFP, IFB selection criteria and/or specifications to provide the Company the best opportunity to win 
•    Maintain a firm understanding of the local competitive climate within the assigned territory
•    Oversees the pipeline of business opportunities in assigned territory
•    Develops project pursuit strategy with leadership, partners and pursuit team(s)
•    Develops and manages the win plan strategy for all major pursuits in assigned territory
•    Pursuit lead for all major pursuits in assigned territory
•    Attends and participates in industry outreach and informational events to gain local contacts and identify possible project work
•    Connects with professional contacts to promote the company 
•    Identifies and assembles key internal personnel and subcontractor alliances to engage and support pursuit efforts
•    Provides strategic input to help achieve shortlist selection and manage the creation of responsive Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) submittals
•    Organizes pursuit list and regularly communicates to team and upper management about priorities and business development activity.
•    Identifies opportunities in contract specifications to strategically use subcontract or Joint Venture (JV) partnerships to advance the goals of the company
•    Review and maintain understanding of the requirements for agency / owner issued “Request for Qualifications (RFQ)” and “Request for Proposals (RFP)”
•    Promotes company. Embodies company values and ethics in all interactions with personal and professional contacts. 
•    Work with the major pursuit team to ensure all deadlines are met
•    Submits forecast reporting on prospective project work to leadership to ensure work is aligned to business model and company strategies. 
•    Oversees and supports the collection and creation of proposal documents during all phases of the pursuit process to ensure final product is market quality; includes all required aspects of the request and puts the company in the best strategic position to win
•    Attends industry conferences and events as required to maintain industry contacts and gather industry intel
•    Maintains knowledge of Company’s values and strategic plan
•    Performs additional tasks or assignments as assigned


Required Skills and Qualifications  
•    Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in a similar role with a construction, OEM or engineering firm 
•    Certificate or degree in business and / or marketing related fields preferred, but not required
•    Infrastructure construction or transit industry experience preferred.
•    Proven ability to identify measure and facilitate the needs of the client or agency during the pre-bid, bid and project phases to support positive company relationship through the life of the project. 
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to initiate and develop personal and professional relationships in the industry. 
•    Proven leadership skills used to identify key internal personnel and drive the pursuit efforts forward while maintaining the ultimate needs of the client or agency.
•    Strong personal and company branding skills. Able to infuse and exude company values into personal brand and daily interactions.
•    Able to travel up to 50% of the time.
•    Proficient in Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
•    Ability to meet deadlines
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills
•    Highly self-motivated and directed
•    Strong attention to detail 
•    Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
•    Strong organization and interpersonal skills


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
•    Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines 
•    Works in an office environment
•    Frequently sits for long periods of time
•    Frequently speaks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard 
•    May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending
